Having built the original Jurassic Coast website way back in 2007, altcom was commissioned to migrate the website to a new platform and do a complete re-design to reflect the development of the UKs best known World Heritage Site .

Project description

In Spring 2006 altcom was selected to design and build a tourism focussed content management system (CMS) website for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site project. The Jurassic Coast is in South West England and runs from East Devon to West Dorset and provides a unique glimpse of 185 million years of Earth History, including the time of the dinosaurs, from the Triassic to the Cretaceous period. AB Multimedia was  responsible for visual design whilst altcom’s role was to build the content management system, provide web hosting, CMS training and website maintenance. The Jurassic Coast content management system used a  heavily extended version of the Joomla! Open Source CMS code.  In 2011 it was decided to upgrade the Joomla CMS to the latest 2.x version, extend the functionality and refresh the design using altcom's design team.
