Multi-Modal Journey Planner App

The brief

West Midlands Trains needed a door to door Journey Planner web application, with the following features:

Multi-Modal journey planning capability, including rail, bus, tram, walking, and ferry
Multi-leg, rail centric journey planning
In journey support and live disruption notification
Journey fixing options for delayed legs

Option to create, save and manage multi-leg trips
Provide all of the above on both desktop and mobile devices
Accessible to WCAG 2.1 standards

What we did

After gathering requirements with the client in a series of workshops, we delivered the project using Agile project management principles. We used Jira to organise our backlog of tasks, and held weekly meetings with the client to review and sign off new concepts, and refine the backlog. Work was delivered in a series of bi-weekly sprints.

The result

The MMJP project was delivered on time and on budget. All KPIs for performance, function and accessibility were met. The solution can bee seen here: WMT Journey Planner Web App
